Four and a half female with mammory tumor
Need help my fur baby was recently diagnosed with a mammory tumor and is on antibiotics and pain meds
But other people said abscess.
Has anyone had this type of surgery on there piggies
Survival rate? Complications? She is almost 5
Does an abscess and mammory tumor look alike
And it isn't caught in time how long do they normally have.
She is still very active and eating pooping being her normal self she has lost some weight but not enough where the vet is concerned. I do have photos but don't know how to post them on here

I'm having trouble with my internet but if you go to this link, I think you will be able to find links to information on both abscesses and mammary tumors.

If she is maintaining her weight, that is a good sign.

Mammary gland surgery is not too terrible; it's minimally invasive, but ANY surgery on a small animal like a guinea pig is delicate and can be tricky. You absolutely have to have a vet that knows how to treat exotics, and handle anaesthesia properly -- this includes guinea pigs. Your standard dog/cat vet isn't usually going to be qualified, unless they have a special interest and that's not the norm.
5 isn't that old. The pig's overall health is more important than age, in my experience.
Ditto what others have said. And very best wishes and blessings to her and to you. Keep us posted!
