Cause of death in my guinea pig?
On march 18th 2025, my beloved guinea pig passed away just as we were about to go to the vet. I have been wanting to know what might be the causes of why she died and wanted to see if anyone might know based off what her symptoms were? Ill include them below.
-- Random spots of blood in the cage (had been happening for a while but wasn't sure which of my pigs it was from)
-- Weirdly shaped poop (looked like multiple very thin pieces of poop were stuck together)
-- stopped eating and drinking
I'm not sure if anyone will be able to figure out what she had based on these symptoms but could you possibly think of a few things that it might have been? I just want to know how she passed so I can prevent it from happening in the future...

I encourage you to read as much as you can on the site about medical care. You would learn how important it is to hand feed a guinea pig (your guinea pig will starve if you do not hand feed), how important seeing a vet is to diagnose a problem, how helpful weighing once a week is to catch problems early.
You could start here with the care guide:
https://www.guinealynx.info/healthycavy.html
Signs of illness:
https://www.guinealynx.info/emergency.html
Hand feeding:

There is much much more.
Also, a necropsy (kind of like an autopsy but of an animal) can be done to attempt to diagnose cause of death. This would be done by your vet.
