Winnie medical
So, here we go...
Winnie got used to us..and she s actually one happy and active piggy..she loves running around....We have to move slowly and be careful still, but otherwise she turned in courageous princess!
I notice some medical things, tough..:
Belly is alright now, she s eating by herself completely, pooping normal.
Urine was bit pinkish(not red) once, but result on strip at home was brilliant and she has pellets with betroot-she likes it, so i think that is the cause, if it will repeat we will bring sample for analysis to vet.
She has little redness on hind legs..but it doesnt look too bad, we dont like it there, so we bought epsom salt i read here it helps..and we will try some bath for legs only..and hope it will disapear completely..i dont know how big her cage was, now is huge, and she moves a lot. Those were problems from before.
URI signs(?)-i dont have solution for this now. 2 days i hear some troaty sounds when she s eating..i watch on youtube some pigs does it. We failed to record it yet, we will try again..to show you and the vet(altough we dont have regular exotic vet just two options we can go to).
Futhermore in the evening she also sneeze twice while eating hay and made bit of sound while sniffing..I havent notice any signs of any of those problems before. Weight is great, eating normal. No signs of discharge but she was cleaning her nose, but thats not exactly sign.
All I can do now is to go to dog clinic to get Marbocyl which is hte same as enroxill..I dont like doing it, but i better dont even think about it and its close to us, so..i can go tomorrow morning. Cause its very cold outside and if we go exotic vet checks we can do it during week.:S
Marbocyl/Enroxill is always first choice here.IF they dont do bacterial research straight away-we cant get that now..not that easily..so..
IF anyone has an oppinion feel free to write..

Thanks for an answer!
Yeah you are right, but when Galli and Irie were showing signs of infection-there was always one, despite fact some so called experienced vet declared he thinks Galli is alergic to hay, well they found two types of bacteria than:(.
So..i agree with you that she s not sneezing a lot like they sort of did..but its also where infection is nose, throat, lungs..and i am not vet so its hard to say..
I recorded her this morning but she didnt do troaty sounds. So its useless. In the afternoon there was some..no discharge.Eyes clear, nose clear.
We will try again catch sound tomorrow for you to see...
Hay was bit dustier maybe, but she hasnt had any problems before.
I went to dog clinic but i was down to bad luck. Usually woman who helped me..and know me well, wasnt around, so..:S young receptionist started complicating cause i didnt bring Win with me, but than vet asked what it is and brought marbocyl..and it was all good..but he said that he mixed it,..and for Irie i always requested pure stuff, not mixed. He was such a royality even on dog clinic where they never saw him. Vet was in a rush so i didnt ask what he mixed it with. Receptionist said they mixed medicines with glucose or saline solution.. as far as i know glucose is no good, but not toxic, right?
Saline solution shouldnt be consumed?? For guinea pigs.
Do you know whats upwith saline solution and guinea pigs? And glucose(i ve heard they mix some medicine with glucose on this clinic sometimes)?
We will wait for couple of days and try post videos of sound that bothers us if any of you know if its infection or normal..
Otherwise we can put it in nebulizer and its not consumed. We have injectable solution(mixed with?);suitable for oral use, marfloxin 10%)

Ditto Lynx on all counts. Many vets jump right to an antibiotic right off the bat. If they're needed, they are of course needed but I wouldn't want to use one without being reasonably confident of the presence of a bacterial infection. Dusty hay can make them sneeze and snort a little, but for a very short time only. Prolonged or persistent sneezing and discharge, on the other hand, is cause for concern.
Saline solution can be consumed. It's just very dilute salt water. A glucose carrier will make an antibiotic more palatable, just like with kids. A small amount of sugar won't hurt anything.

Thank you both so very much for those informations.
I agree with you totally and i am all for alternative not for AB if its not necessary, thats why we waited and asked you, my friends.
However, she was sneezing quite a lot at night, so i couldnt sleep, discharge still not seen, throaty sounds is present more, now(i havent heard it with any other of my pigs), but anyway..i am little disturbed cause we dealt with this before and it can be very hard to handle.
Her weight droped for 30g in a week.
I decided to try Marfloxin (marbofloxacin) tomorrow..if we will have rough night again.
We order some very high quality undusty hay, iv ebeen buying for others before. We re waiting to come.
I mailed the vet(dog vet), what exactly he mixed AB with, i hope he wont be offended, i try to be as polite as possible. Better save than sorry.
So you can expect few more post on dossage etc and i dont have benebac but some other probiotic -i need to check what is it.
If it wont go okay after AB..we will go to exotic vet that also helped Irie and will ask him to take nasal discharge for culture.
All in all i am glad Winnie is alot happier, now..she still has some trust issues sometimes, i dont wanna bother her too much (but encourage her so she feels safe, courageous and brilliant), or stuff her with ABs-really i dont, but this caught us off guard.

So, the vet kindly replied he mixed it with glucose 5%.
Our probiotic is this https://www.sanolabor.si/artikel/jamies ... ekstra-moc
hope is alright with guinea pigs.
Dosage for marbofloxacin according to vet would be if he wouldnt mix it 0,02(thats why he mixed it so we could take more-he didnt do us favour, but anyway. In my calculation so is 0,02x 100mg/ml=2 2:0,79= 2, 53mg which is a low dossage
He mixed it and said our dossage is 0,1ml, but he told me he used previous calculation, so its still even mixed around 2, 53mg
. Our previous vet was giving (as far as i know) 0,1 unmixed which would be 10 mg for 1kg guinea pig-they had standard dossage, didnt calculate.
weight for each individual(which is not so good, but its how it was).
Only thing i am concerned about i should give her more(higher dossage) so we wont take AB for nothing.
Another thing is i would really like to catch this sound on video cause some of you are so experienced i can bet you know what it would be.
I havent heard it with any of my pigs and that is concerning for me. Hope i post it online in the evening so far we failed to record it..

I hope you can get on top of this, you're so diligent and observant. As for the red feet, my Millie has that issue as well. She had the start of bumble foot when I got her. The vet prescribed Mupirocin salve which helped a lot. I now put Polysporin on her feet each day and make sure she has a soft floor with multiple layers of fleece.
Thank you both! We will get this cream, for sure!
We are in troubles it seems.
We took higher dossage that vet prescribed...after three dossage is no better. It seemed at first, but than ...
She was making *troaty* sounds all night. We didnt sleep, but it dosent mater. I finally recorded it.
Currently i am at work. I can go ER if we need it, but i tought to wait for exotic vets till moneday, ..i am not sure yet what to do.
I ll be at home in about 2-3hours and i will post video we recorder if anybody can recognize what those sounds(My other pigs were never makig it) are all about-she shows no discharge clearing nose ocassionally tough, she eats welll and is vet active. She only sneezes little bit.
Please comment on video when we post it(in about three hours).
And Winnie is ours and she aint going anywhere..i am sorry for stormy start but we bonded so well we could only dream of. And now the health issues.
We have unlimited amount of money for animals and will power, anyway.
I dont wanna sound all panic, but i am concerned, cause it doesnt seem okay to me and at first she wasnt making that, only started a week ago.
