Mold on wheatgrass.. is GSE SAFE??

Hi, so my piggies LOOOVE wheatgrass... I have about 50 different trays outside growing because it gets expensive and they're already more expensive than I am(per my husband) haha... and evryday another tray has the fuzzy white mold on it... I've been told grapefruit seed extract will kill it and is safe for pets. But 'pets' is such a general term.and a lot of stuff safe for most pets aren't safe for guinea pigs as they have soo many health issues... and bc grapefruit are too acidic for guinea pigs to eat I wanted to see if anyone knows that this is for sure safe for my girls.

I've already had to take them to the vet twice. Mush has ringworm, a while Cookie shows no signs of it (which I've been Informed petco and petsmart are well known for their guinea pigs to have Ringworm and it could take months to actually show patches of it. And previous to the rinworm cookie had a RI, I had them on the floor in a super huge cage and the dust from being down there as well as perfumes,.and cleaners are probably the culprit of the RI. so I have fixed those problems and they are currently on ketoconazole for 2 months so fingers crossed all goes well and we csn prevent this from happening again... and me also from getting Ringworm again too. I guess I rubbed my eyes after holding them and actually got ringworm.along my eyelash line and a patch under one of my eyes. So irritating to say the least.

I would like to continue growing the wheatgrass myself... it saves a lot of money as they've gone thru 2 trays in a day before. It's their favorite. Mush(my vocal piggy girl) wheeks so loud when I walk in the door. And almost only when ive just got back from.the store w theyre lettuce and grass... I think they can smell it when I walk up lol

I deleted your duplicate post (my initial reading, it seems this is the better location since you are basically asking about the wheat grass).

I think of the soil you used perhaps contributing to the mold. Sun, air movement should help keep it down.

I'll add more if I think of anything else.

The issue is they're already outside should I put them in direct sunlight? There's a.decent breeze where I've placed them.as well... I live in the santa maria VALLEY... its not super hot, actually we're blessed.with as most people say perfect weather here, ins about 20 to 30 min inland from the pacific on the central coast of California. But that's exactly it.. is a valley... so we have extra spores in our air anyways.. they all settle here..my husband got valley fever so bad here from breathing them, he was hospitalized for 11 days told 1 more day he would have died.. the spores are pretty thick. So im not sure there's enuff air or sun to..., I guess, battle the spores... I've literally done all of that.. some of them I've even rinsed the mold off at least 1x. N it just grows back.. I'm honestly looking for a natural way to kill it and prevent it... if there is one. I have 6 kids as well. My oldest is 18 tomorrow and youngest is 3.5 yes. So preventing n reducing daily tasks would be a huge time saver in my house. But I'll try putting them in direct sunlight, it's 10 am here so the sun will probably fry them now. I'm thinking when it cools down some.. probably around 4... see if it helps until I find something. Ty. 🤘

I do not think there would be any negative consequences to trying grapefruit seed extract.
