Hello Friends , My 12 month to 1 yr old boar his testicles haven’t dropped yet should I be concerned . He is confirmed male because his penis sticks out when pushing lightly while cleaning his boar glue . I’ve noticed that his testosterone levels are not strong because he doesn’t buck his head when i pet behind his ears or head . His pee doesn’t even smell like ammonia . Could it be because he is young . He does rumble

I spoke with a guinea pig rescue buddy of mine to see if she ever encountered this, as I have not. She stated that she recalls one male who had one testicle that was descended and the other was not. The veterinarian stated that this shouldn't cause the pig any problems, but to have him re-checked if he shows signs of discomfort---an indication that there could be complications such as testicular cancer.

I think it might be worth a visit to an exotics vet to have your guinea pig evaluated and to see if neutering might be indicated.

I've only had a few boars, but not all had prominent testicles.
