1. The girls are walking on vet/dry bed- the green back one-https://www.petnetwork.com.au/collectio ... ck-vet-bed
2. Laundry detergent I use are either https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/prod ... ont-loader or this one https://shop.coles.com.au/a/mount-barke ... wder-lemon Washing machine is a front loader.
3. Anaplex-vet put her on this February this year, after a month I took her off it in March. But when her poops became worse in April I put her back on it. Now in June I will again stop it and see how she goes.
4. What about the honey for the feet? Coconut oil is making the pigs with white paws-Jill, Jewel,Jay with feet that are now redder than before I started. Was concerned about the sugar.

Hoping I have cleared this up and answered your questions Lynx! Thanks for the reply!

One of my brothers would break out terribly because of many detergents. I think my mom had to use a hypoallergenic detergent. I think the Clear and Free "All" detergent has been around for a very long time.

There are no particular products I can recommend (though the All is likely the most readily accessible) but perhaps through your own research you could find something in Australia. I think guinea pig feet are thin skinned and sensitive because of the way we keep them (often on a soft environment so they don't develop callouses).

For the last link, I get a warning I can't shop there.

The Coles one is lemon fragrant one. I will look into it. Thanks Lynx. Guessing using the honey to put on her feet is a no?

I don't think it would hurt but it might not make much difference. Your best bet is a protectant of some sort. Desitin cream for babies ( https://www.desitin.com/ ), for example, works well as a barrier to urine with urine scald. Feet, however, pose a problem because the cream would rub off. If you feel this is a serious problem that can't be resolved by changing your detergent and diligent bedding changes, at least one manufacturer offers a liquid bandage that would provide a good barrier. With pododermatitis, bandaging may be necessary. Thin skinned guinea pigs may have red feet due to blood circulation (ridding the body of heat).

Is this the pig that's getting glucose? If so, why are you worried about honey? I'd cut out the glucose and use the honey.

I’ve used cream for athlete’s foot and the Desitin 40% zinc cream on Lacey’s feet. Desitin is hard to massage in - it just sits on the surface. I’ve also used vitamin E oil that I bought in the cosmetics dept. and not the supplements. It’s kind of thick and sticky but it does the job.

Thanks for the replies Lynx, bpatters and ItsaZoo. The glucose she has orally the honey would be for her feet only. Her poops are still mushy but now she has developed a lot of mucus. Is this common? Thanks in advance. Good news is she put on 15grams over night.

Back in 2013, Wenton put together a big post on poops. You can find a link to it in the master medical sticky topic. Here is a direct link:
https://www.guinealynx.info/forums/viewt ... =8&t=68360

Wenton posited mucus could be a sign of infection or bacteria in the intestinal track. It is a pretty fair guess there is a disturbance of the bacteria in your guinea pig's intestinal tract.

Jill had poops tested last Thursday and no infection. No bugs good or bad found. Jill has been on Pron8ure and poop soup for last 7 months now.

Mucus was long and sticky like long string of glue. It was clear. If it returns will get sample and take to the vet. It was not in poops it was separate and did not smell. Thanks Lynx!

My point is, you're worrying about a dab of sugar that she might lick off her feet but you're feeding her a pure sugar solution daily. Just cut out the gliucose and use the honey.

Is hay with rye and clover OK for piggies? I have always tried to steer clear of these hays. But with drought and bush fires it is getting harder. Have taken Jill off everything but steroid and Pron8ure so far no change. Thanks in advance. Thanks bpatters.

The clover will be high in calcium. Learn more about hays here:
