Swollen toe
Hello everyone!
Yesterday I noticed my guinea pig toe was slightly swollen. It doesnt seem to be hurting him and he is walking around fine. I even give his toe a gentle little squeeze and it did not hurt him at all. I put him in some warm water to left his feet soak.
I have done my research on bumble foot and dont see any reason on how he could have gotten it. Both my Guinea pigs live in a nice c&c cage on fleece. I spot clean there cage twice a day.
Just wondering if anyone can help me out!
(Also I would post a picture but I dont know how)

I will move this to the medical forum.
If you cannot find an injury, perhaps you can just monitor it for now. Taking pictures of the toe will help you decide if it is improving. Check it for warmth (warmer than the other toe) which could mean there is an infection of some kind.
If you have a clear crisp picture you'd like to add to your topic, you can email it to me.
Now that you have a topic on your guinea pig, you can post all medical questions about him on it here.

Here are the two pictures you sent.
I think the foot could benefit from soaking with Epsom salts. There is a clear warning on this page about making sure the solution does not get in your guinea pig's eyes. Read the warning carefully:
www.guinealynx.info/pododermatitis.html
WARNING!
One guinea pig groomed itself while having its feet soaked and the epsom salt solution severely injured the eye! Do not leave your guinea pig unattended while soaking with epsom salts! This poster subsequently applied a protective eye cream (see vet) before soaking to help prevent future injury.

I have been soaking it in a saline solution. Do you think Epsom salts would work better?
I recall reading somewhere that its one fourm for animal so hopefully someone sees this!
My guinea pigs swollen toes has gone down a bit and does not seem to be giving him any pain. I soak it in Epsom salts about 2-3 times a week. The vet said it wasnt infected thankfully.
However i have noticed sometimes when my guinea pig scratchs himself he falls over onto his back and starts twitching (looks alot like a seizure). Im not sure what's wrong and im very worried.
Can someone please help me

Sounds like mites. They can annoy a pig mightily. Treat him with ivermectin -- three to four treatments, each a week apart.
See https://www.guinealynx.info/ivermectin_treatment.html, and read the other links at the bottom.

I have 2 piggies in the same cage and the other one is fine. Do you still think it could be mites. Also the cage is very clean so i don't see how it could be mites.
