frontline for mites?
Well, tell that someone to get an education, because Frontline is NOT safe for guinea pigs. Joséphine has more info, but DO NOT use Frontline. Advantage is safe when dosed correctly, but it treats lice, not sarcoptic mites.
The ONLT safe treatment for mites is Ivermectin. It can be given by injection, orally or topically.

I TOTALLY agree!
Lynx has posted quite a bit about using Ivermectin TOPICALLY to treat BOTH lice and mites at the same time.
Frontline will NOT kill lice. It is dangerous to use with pigs!!!

From an old email regarding Advantage for lice:
IMPORTANT NOTE: I forgot to mention in my original message that we should
NOT use Frontline/Top Spot flea treatment on rabbits or guinea pigs. This
is a similar treatment to Advantage. However, my vet tells me that it has
proved toxic to rabbits. A previous vet also told me that it is not
effective. So be sure to use only the Advantage brand.

I´m wondering if this isn´t two different products? Is there a Frontline flea and tick spray and also a topical "spot on" preparation? Possibly they have different ingredients.
Edit: Just checked it out, they BOTH contain Fipronil, if that´s what causes the problems for guinea pigs.
