Everyday's a Dede Day!
Hi GP_mum,
Thanks for thinking about little Dede. (:
It's back to syringe feeding a few times a day as well as the plate in there at all times.
She does every now and then lick up from the plate, and she does eat pellets.
The size difference between the two sisters is rather big...Delta is a good 300 grams & growing, while Dede is currently hanging between 170 - 190 grams and isn't gaining weight really.

Some pictures of Delta and one that kinda shows the size difference of the two sisters.

The girls are now just over 6 weeks old and still going well, I'm still syringe *force...* feeding Dede twice a day as she's not eating as much of her wet food as she use to but she is eating pellets now.

Thanks for the update. The photos really do show the size difference. Thankfully Dede has you astwice daily syringe feeding is nothing to turn one's nose up at. It's a real commitment. Good to read that she's eating pellets as well. Best wishes that both girls continue to do well.
Right now, the two day feedings are looking like they're all she needs as it really is forcing her to take them during the feedings. And she does always have the wet mix and pellets there, which she does eat so she can. She's just for some reason choosing not to.
I also wish to explain why I haven't been posting daily.
Over the past 3 weeks we've had;
A big rescue group take in of at the time 24 guinea pigs...sadly one of the day old girls passed the day after coming here..she was very small and sickly on arriving here. Since then we've had four baby girls born and still have 4 of the adult girls from the group on a pregnancy watch.
We also took in 3 guineas that were let loose, a man caught them..found their owner who then told him that they didn't want the pigs any more so let them loose and that the man could do what ever he wanted with them. There were 5 but sadly an adult and a baby got killed by a cat before getting caught, of course the 3 were one male and two females...all very young but those two girls are also on a pregnancy watch.
And I'm at school from 9am till 5pm, and then the weekends are full of stuff with the rescue...so I haven't had as much time as I would like to keep this thread up-to-date daily.
But I am aiming to post at least once a week!

Little Delta eating up her slivers for breakfast.
Delta is doing so well so far, sadly Dede's having a hard time thriving due to her inability to eat fresh veggies or hay. The size difference between the girls is huge; Dede is only 190 grams (gained 10 grams over this week! Whoop!) while Delta is 353 grams.
I hope you all don't mind all the pictures...
Delta first!

Thank you all for your replies about the pictures - I'd forgotten how much I'd missed taking outside pictures of Precious...with these little LWs It's not as worrying about them running away! (:
As some of you may know, I have a herd of 6 girls and a de-sexed male and had a de-sexed male pair (Any male guinea that is mine gets de-sexed and I don't want to take any risks!).
Sadly, last night one of my older boys (only 6 years old) Bubbles passed away. We'd been having a few medical problems with him and it was just getting worse.
That's left me with his buddy Ron all alone. Ron has been de-sexed for a couple of years now, so I've been playing around with the idea of tying to introduce Ron to Darla, Dede & Delta...I really don't know how it would go. But I do know that if Ron scares Delta...she has 3 sharp pointy front teeth what hurt when she nips!
If they get along. The four will live in a 2x7 c&c cage.
It will be Dede & Delta's first time meeting an adult male. Darla's first time meeting a de-sexed male guinea...all the males she knew in the past were intact hence Dede, Delta, Dot & Deka! It will also be Rons first time being introduced to girls as I've had him since 4 weeks of age and he'd grown up living in a male trio with my other two males at the time.
Fingers crossed it does work and I think Darla needs another guinea to hang out with and chat to!
Dede is still hanging around 175 - 190grams...Delta is up to around 370 grams.
Not long until the girls are 8 weeks old/2 months old!

I'll take a "family" picture later on today....am so glad that Ron is settling in well and introducing him to the girls has been a turn for the better!
Delta often follows him around, she's really taken to him!
